The claim that today's Ukrainian oligarchs are exclusively Jewish is contradicted by sources showing prominent oligarchs of varied ethnicity: Rinat Akhmetov is an ethnic Volga Tatar and Vadym Novynskyi is described as ethnic Russian, and multiple sources name non-Jewish oligarchs such as Akhmetov, Firtash and Kurchenko.

What we found

Contradicts. Rinat Akhmetov, described as the wealthiest man in Ukraine and an oligarch, is an ethnic Volga Tatar and practicing Sunni Muslim, not Jewish.[1]

Contradicts. Vadym Novynskyi, a sanctioned Ukrainian oligarch, is described as an ethnic Russian.[2]

Contradicts. The Media Ownership Monitor lists the most influential Ukrainian media owners as Akhmetov, Pinchuk, Firtash, Kolomoiskiy and Kurchenko, several of whom are not identified as Jewish in the sources, undermining the 'exclusively Jewish' characterization.[3]

Context. The CEPA and BTI sources describe oligarchs as a broad group of business elites without describing them as ethnically Jewish, and the Antisemitism article itself frames the 'Jewish oligarchy' as an accusation rather than a documented fact.[4][5][6]
