Most synagogue-specific sources place the world's largest synagogue in Jerusalem (Belz/Gur complexes), which contradicts the claim. A JTA report says Dnipro's Menorah Center in eastern Ukraine is 'often deemed the largest Jewish communal structure in the world,' which partly supports it, but that describes a communal structure rather than a synagogue complex and is hedged.

What we found

Contradicts. Wikipedia's Synagogue entry states the largest synagogue in the world is the Great Beth Midrash Gur in Jerusalem, with a complex of about 35,000 m².[1]

Contradicts. A 2022 Israel National News report says Jerusalem's Ger beit medrash, at 35,000 m², is the largest synagogue in the world, and a 2026 listing calls the Ger complex one of the world's largest.[2][3]

Contradicts. A 2013 Hidabroot article says the largest synagogue in the world is the Belz synagogue in Jerusalem.[4]

Supports. A 2024 JTA report says the Chabad-run Menorah Center in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, is 'often deemed the largest Jewish communal structure in the world,' a hedged claim about a broader communal structure rather than a synagogue.[5]

Context. The claimant's own passage is not evidence. Its statement that the world's largest synagogue complex is in Eastern Ukraine is unsupported by the synagogue-specific sources, which name Jerusalem.
