Independent sources describe Eichmann's authority as coming from the SS and RSHA chain of command, running to Heydrich and Himmler, and none place him in the Wehrmacht's chain. No source directly addresses Army authority, so the claim is supported only by inference from how his authority is described, and the claimant's own transcript is not counted as evidence.

What was said

… It's really fascinating because it's, it was like a very different war than the, than the Ostfront, or what ensued, you know, after the, in the final war, when the, when France, um, and the German Reich itself became a battlefront, but, you know, it wasn't Eichmann had nothing to do with the German Army's chain of command. What we found

Supports. A 2021 Military Review article states that Eichmann's authority derived from the SS chain of command, which gave him power over the deportation and genocide machinery.[2]

Supports. The New Yorker describes Eichmann's chain of command as running through the RSHA (Müller, Heydrich, Kaltenbrunner) to Himmler and then Hitler, with no Army link.[3]

Supports. Other accounts place Eichmann in the SD/SS and RSHA hierarchy under Heydrich, with his superiors all SS officers.[4][5][6]

Context. Wehrmacht units took part in anti-partisan and killing operations, but the sources describe them as acting under their own army commanders, not under Eichmann.[5]

Context. The Houston Journal article says Eichmann had primary authority over Final Solution matters, which concerns the SS/RSHA apparatus and not the Army's command structure.[1]
