Sources consistently place Eichmann's highest rank at lieutenant colonel: Wikipedia calls SS-Obersturmbannführer the highest rank he was granted, and the Holocaust Encyclopedia, worldhistory.org and Gwern all give Obersturmbannführer/lieutenant colonel.

Supports. Wikipedia states Eichmann was promoted to SS-Obersturmbannführer (lieutenant colonel), the highest rank he was granted.[1]
Supports. The Encyclopedia.com Eichmann Trial entry says he never attained a rank higher than the equivalent of a lieutenant colonel (Oberstleutnant).[2]
Supports. The Holocaust Encyclopedia and worldhistory.org both describe Eichmann as an SS-Obersturmbannführer, or lieutenant colonel, and Gwern gives 1941 as the year he reached that rank.[3][4][5]
Context. The claimant's passage uses Oberstleutnant as the SS equivalent of lieutenant colonel; the sources use Obersturmbannführer as the SS rank name, so the claim is a label difference, not a different rank.[6][7]
