The claim that the US government has not trained Ukrainian pilots on advanced American military aircraft is contradicted by multiple tier-1 reports that US-led F-16 pilot training took place at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, Arizona, and continued into 2024.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… Um, it doesn't work that way. It it represents a certain culture. There is no, uh, ability to integrate any of that stuff, and it gets destroyed the minute it gets off the boat anyway. They don't have the pilots. They haven't trained pilots to fly these advanced military American pieces of hardware. You can imagine rookie pilots here; they'd be slaughtered, and that's exactly the point. What we found

Contradicts. Reuters reported in October 2023 that the US ambassador to Ukraine said Ukrainian pilots were undergoing F-16 training with the Arizona Air National Guard.[1]

Contradicts. AP reported in February 2024 that the National Guard still had enough money to complete training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets, with pilot training having begun in October at Morris Air National Guard base in Tucson.[2]

Contradicts. A Pentagon release states the US would train Ukrainian pilots and ground crews on F-16s at Morris Air National Guard Base, and ABC News reports that several Ukrainian pilots were to begin training there.[3][5]

Context. Earlier sources (2022–2023) describe US pilot training on fighter jets as planned or under consideration, and note that training on American aircraft takes considerable time, which is background rather than evidence against the training having occurred.[4][6][7][8]
