The claim that there was a border invasion of upwards of 20 million people is contradicted by fact-checkers, who found the figure highly inflated. Official CBP data show about 10.8 million Biden-era encounters, or roughly 12-13 million with estimated gotaways, and the sources note that arrests are not the same as individual people.

… Schumer and Colbert, Colbert, whatever his name is. Kamala is actually putting a little shame. Not I'm really sure it's appropriate, running for, ah, running for POTUS. But what ever you do, you why are they always dancing? Why are they always dancing? When they were dancing, we had a border invasion of upwards of 20 million people. We had the defund the police movement. We had the Ferguson effect going on while Democrats are running blue cities into the ground. Muths and the chat. This is, this is the Democrats. You've got a choice coming up, folks. Listen, it's, oh, I get it. …

What we found

Contradicts. AP's FACT FOCUS check of Trump's address calls the '21 million people poured in' figure highly inflated. CBP reported about 10.8 million arrests for illegal crossings from Mexico from January 2021 through December 2024, and those are arrests, not individual people.[2]

Contradicts. Langworthy Watch rates the claim of 'upwards of 20 million people' coming in four years FALSE. Official CBP encounters for FY2021-FY2024 total about 10.8 million, or roughly 12-13 million including the 1.7-2 million estimated gotaways, which is nearly half the claimed figure.[3]

Context. Sources confirm that illegal crossings were historically high in Biden's first three years, so the underlying surge is real. The disputed element is the 20 million magnitude, which the official counts do not support.[1][4]
