FactCheck.org's October 2026 tally shows 1,006,000 private-sector jobs added from January 2025 through September 2026, and the White House says the private sector has created over one million jobs under Trump, so the figure is supported at roughly the claimed magnitude.

What was said

… We have a secure border. We've not released a single illegal alien into the country in 16 straight months. We have more jobs, more opportunity. We created a million private sector jobs in the last 19 months in this country, and the success goes on and on. Lowest prescription drug prices in 60 years. That's because we did what we said we were going to do, and you have to keep those common sense principles and policies going because we have much more to do ahead of us. …

What we found

Supports. FactCheck.org (Oct 2026), citing BLS data, reports 1,006,000 private-sector jobs added during Trump's term through September 2026.[1]

Supports. The White House's September 2026 release states the private sector has created over one million jobs under President Trump's second term.[3]

Context. A August 2026 BLS benchmark revision cut estimated private employment growth to about 24,000 a month, showing job growth was weaker than first reported, though the revised data still feeds the roughly one-million total cited by FactCheck.org.[2]

Context. An unrated blog says Trump has created fewer than 900,000 total jobs over 19 months, but that counts all jobs including government declines rather than private-sector jobs, so it does not contradict the private-sector figure.[4]
