No source reports that the Minnesota Attorney General was exploring charges against the journalists as of 2026-08-17. The sources show that Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, not the state AG, filed felony charges against O'Keefe and Higby on Oct. 28, 2026, which is after the claim date, and the AG's Oct. 20 election report form does not mention such charges.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… Did Margaret Brennan or all the, you know, Kristen Welker talk about this? Of course not. They didn't touch it. An election in a U.S. State is being stolen, and it will be the latest election of stolen, many elections through this legalized voter fraud. And the reaction in Minnesota from the attorney general is they're exploring charges against the journalists who exposed it. What we found

Context. Reuters, AP, KARE 11 and other outlets report that Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty charged James O'Keefe and Cam Higby with unlawful voting and identity theft on Oct. 28, 2026, for conduct during the Aug. 11 primary.[1][3][4][5]

Context. The Minnesota Attorney General's Oct. 20, 2026 Election Report Form release says the office will investigate election-related matters reported to it and may refer complaints, but it does not mention exploring charges against any journalists or the pair.[6]

Context. No source addresses any statement or deliberation by the state Attorney General about charging the men or other journalists before Aug. 17, 2026, so the claim's central assertion goes uncorroborated and uncontradicted.[1][2][7][8][9][10][11]
