The only source giving the exact 3,258 kg figure is a September 16, 2026 FBI oversight hearing transcript, where the post's own words repeat it. Sen. Kennedy's exchange with Director Patel, who answered 'Yep,' confirms the FBI has seized more than 3,200 kg since January 2025, which is consistent with 3,258 kg; no source contradicts it.

What we found

Supports. At the September 16, 2026 FBI oversight hearing, Director Patel confirmed Sen. Kennedy's statement that the Bureau had seized more than 3,200 kilograms of fentanyl since January 2025, consistent with the claimed 3,258 kg.[3]

Context. The FBI's Summer Heat 2.0 press release reports 687 kilograms of fentanyl seized in that four-month initiative alone, a subset of the cumulative total rather than a contradiction of it.[2]

Context. The DEA's 2025 seizure figures (about 1,400 kilograms) and DOJ figures cited by PolitiFact are from other agencies or different scopes and do not bear on the FBI's cumulative total.[1]
