Sources give competing estimates of collagen loss by age 60: one says producing as little as 60% (Costhetics), another says about 50-60% by age 70 (antiagingcare), and another says about 80% lost by 60 (Yahoo/Kenkare), which would mean roughly 20% remains.

… Paula absolutely loves it. I love it, two. Collagen is the protein that helps hold your body together. It's critical. It's like the mortar for bricks. After 30, our bodies often lose one to 2% of collagen every year, and by age 60, many are likely producing half. But here's how taking collagen can help you. Here's how taking collagen will help. What we found

Contradicts. Yahoo's expert-based article says that by age 60 approximately 80% of collagen may be lost, implying about 20% remains, well below half-level production as claimed.[1]

Supports. Costhetics says by age 60 the body produces as little as 60% of the collagen it needs, and antiagingcare reports 50-60% of age-25 collagen remains by age 70; both bracket the claimed half figure.[2][3]

Context. Cleveland Clinic states that collagen production declines with age and that it is normal to see a decline after 60, but gives no specific proportion.[4]

Context. The 'most people make half as much collagen by 60' statement appears only in a Native Path product marketing piece, which is the claimant's sponsor and not independent evidence.[5]

Context. UCLA and Verywell describe a steady decline of about 1% per year from early adulthood, and Verywell puts overall decline at about 25% over 40 years, a slower rate that does not clearly reach half by 60.[6][7]
