A CNN poll published September 23, 2026, one day before the post, reported Trump's approval at 33%, his lowest across two terms, and a second CNN article from the same day describes the same figure as 'only a third.' What we found

Supports. A CNN video segment published 2026-09-23 states that a new CNN poll shows Trump at a 33% approval rating, his numerically lowest across two terms.[1]

Supports. A CNN article published 2026-09-23 reports that a CNN/SSRS poll conducted September 16-17 found only a third of Americans approve of Trump's performance, a new low in his presidency.[2]

Context. A later CNN/SSRS survey reported in October found a record-low 32%, which postdates the claim and does not contradict the September 33% figure.[3][4]
