The claim places a Texas DPS and National Guard deployment against a campus protest in Boston, but the sources show the Texas horseback-police response was at the University of Texas in Austin in April 2024, and Boston's campus arrests at Emerson College were handled by Boston police.
What we found
Contradicts. Reuters reports that the Texas National Guard was not summoned to or sent to the University of Texas campus during the April 24, 2024 protests, with the Texas Department of Public Safety handling the response.[1]
Contradicts. The BBC places the mounted police response by Texas forces at the University of Texas in Austin, while the Boston-area campus arrests (about 108 at Emerson College) were made by Boston police, not Texas DPS.[3]
Context. The Washington Post describes Governor Abbott calling in more than 100 state troopers to clear a UT Austin lawn during the 2024 pro-Palestinian protests, which is the Texas event the claim appears to be drawing on.[4]
Context. Sources cover Texas DPS and National Guard deployments to protests, including 2025 anti-ICE and No Kings deployments, but none reports any Texas deployment to a Boston campus.[2][5][6]
