The claim's figure of about 1 million private-sector jobs is close to FactCheck.org's count of 1,006,000 private-sector jobs added during Trump's term so far, but a separate source puts the 19-month figure at 825,000, and Reuters reports downward benchmark revisions. The result depends on the measurement window and revised data, so the verdict is mixed.

What was said

… We have Trump accounts for newborns, the first ever nationwide school choice program. We have the lowest violent crime in 26 years, biggest decline in prescription drug cost in 60 years. We got back to American energy dominance and peace through strength. A million jobs added in the private sector alone in the last 19 months. It goes on and on and on. We're reassuring American manufacturing and we are, we are fixing the economy we inherited under the last administration. 40 year high inflation.

What we found

Contradicts. Matt Darling states the private sector added 825,000 jobs in the last 19 months, a figure well below one million for the same kind of window.[3]

Contradicts. Reuters reports that the BLS benchmark revision cut private employment by 178,000 and lowered the average private-sector pace to 24,000 a month from 38,000, which weakens the cumulative total the claim relies on.[1]

Supports. FactCheck.org reports that 1,006,000 private-sector jobs were added during Trump's second term so far, based on BLS data through September 2026, which is roughly the claimed one million.[2]

Context. The 1 million figure is repeated by White House spokespeople and by commentators, but these are claimant-side statements rather than independent records. Their 19-month window also differs from FactCheck's January 2025 to September 2026 period, which is closer to 21 months.[2][4][5][6]
