As of 2026-09-10, the claim that drug prices had not fallen 600% is supported. The BLS Consumer Price Index showed prescription drug prices down about 3.1% over the prior year, and a 600% reduction is mathematically impossible as a percentage decline, so the claimed figure does not match the record.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… if it comes out of the White House, and if it comes out of a cabinet secretary or a political appointee's mouth, in the past, that would have meant the number was true but cherry picked. In the present, it's not even true, like literally making up numbers. Drug prices haven't fallen 600%. I know that's surprising. The U.S. Has not had $20 trillion worth of investment under President Trump, uh, because that would be nearly all of GDP. …

What we found

Supports. FactCheck.org reports that BLS CPI data showed prescription drug prices down 3.1% over the past year, the largest one-year decrease since 1963, which is far from a 600% fall.[1]

Supports. The White House release also describes the drop as the largest annual decline in over 60 years, a single-digit-scale change rather than a 600% one.[3]

Supports. Snopes explains that a 600% reduction from $600 would imply a negative $3,000 price, so a 600% fall cannot describe a drug price decline and the 600% figure was an erroneous calculation.[2]

Contradicts. Trump's Truth Social post claimed drug prices were falling '500%, 600%, 700%, and more'; this is the figure the claim rejects, and the record does not support it.[5]

Context. Some individual drug list prices did drop sharply (ASPE reports single-product decreases up to 99%), but no source reports a 600% fall in drug prices overall.[4]
