No source reports the rial's rate on 2026-08-25, so the claim's figure of 2 million cannot be confirmed or refuted for that date. The sources do bracket it: the rate was about 1.5-1.6 million in February, hit a record of 2.2 million on Sept.

Our two reads of who says this, and how, disagree, so it counts as the post's own claim.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… I mean, we are literally at the end where we are trying to exercise, working with Israel, every option at our disposal, economic, military, and everything else, to be able to weaken and take over and basically destroy this regime. Brigitte Gabriel, you're talking about 2 million reals for a dollar. That currency is worthless. Yep, yep, that currency is worthless right now. Uh, they are on the verge of collapse, and they are so much on the verge of collapse, and we haven't really started the major sanctions. …

What we found

Context. AP and Fortune report the rial hit a record low of 2.2 million per dollar on Sept. 2, 2026, implying the late-August rate was below that level.[1][4][5]

Context. Fortune reports the rate was near 1.5 million at the start of 2026, and SBS/Bonbast says the rate was 1.5-1.6 million in mid-to-late February before the war.[4][6]

Context. Later reporting shows much higher rates: Bonbast recorded 2.567 million on Sept. 30 and Reuters reported about 2.688 million on Oct. 3, both after the claim date.[2][6]

Context. No source gives an August 25, 2026 rate, so the claim's 2 million figure is not directly graded against the record for that date.

Context. Some aggregator pages dated late October and November show rates of about 1.37 to 1.87 million, conflicting with the Bonbast and Reuters figures; these are later snapshots and do not bear on August 25.[3][7][8][9]
