James Talarico, the Texas Democratic Senate candidate, was born May 17, 1989, so he was 37 on the posted date of 2026-08-18. The WSJ and NYT, both published in late October 2026, describe him as 37, and the birth date is consistent across Britannica and Wikipedia.
This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.
What was said
… I've always felt that Talarico seemed more like a moderate to slightly manly woman than an effeminate man, right? Supports. The Wall Street Journal (2026-10-27) describes Talarico as 'the 37-year-old seminarian' and the New York Times (2026-10-31) calls him 'the once-obscure 37-year-old state representative.'[1][2]
Supports. Britannica gives Talarico's birth date as May 17, 1989, and Wikipedia gives the same date, which makes him 37 on 2026-08-18.[3][4]
Supports. A Sunday Guardian profile published 2026-11-01 states he is 37 years old, consistent with the birth date and the other sources.[5]
Context. The claim's extracted wording matches the passage ('He's 37 years old'), so it is a faithful extraction. The passage's 'unmarried' detail is not part of this claim.
