Governor Jim Pillen's Oct. 19, 2026 executive order (No. 26-25) is confirmed by the governor's own press release and several local outlets. It relaxes hours-of-service rules for fuel haulers and lets vehicles exceed weight limits by up to 10%.

Our two reads of who says this, and how, disagree, so it counts as the post's own claim.

… be aware of that, but there are empty pump stations in Omaha and La Vista, including Sam's Club locations and Casey's, and it's been posted online that many of those stations are completely out of gas. In Nebraska, an executive order has just been issued. What we found

Supports. The governor's official press release dated Oct. 19, 2026 confirms Gov. Jim Pillen issued order No. 26-25 to address fuel supply demands, which builds on a federal hours-of-service waiver and allows vehicles to exceed weight limits by up to 10%.[2]

Supports. Overdrive reports Pillen issued the order on Monday, Oct. 19, waiving hours-of-service requirements for fuel haulers and allowing weight limits to be exceeded by up to 10%.[4]

Supports. KETV and KLKN both report the order was signed Oct. 19, supports waiving motor fuel carriers' hours, and allows carriers to overfill by ten percent.[5][6]

Context. The FMCSA document titled 'Emergency Relief Due to Fuel Supply Shortages' is Nebraska Executive Order No. 25-11, with dates in May 2025, so it is a different order from the October 2026 action and does not confirm the exact title claimed.[3]

Context. A Reuters roundup from Oct. 1, 2026 notes Nebraska had earlier eased weight limits for seasonal crop transport and allowed untaxed dyed diesel, which are separate measures from the Oct. 19 order.[1]
