As of 2026-08-04, Massachusetts had not enacted any law giving Muslims priority for state jobs or contracts. The only related measure, S.2134, was a pending bill that would create an 11-member commission to identify and recommend Muslims for appointive positions, and it was still in committee; sources also say it was unlikely to pass, and none mention state contracts.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… Why? I mean, what, how did they earn special status? How? I'll tell you how: political pressure. I mean, they're, they're not even 2% of the country, and yet they have this outsized influence on our politics, where you have a state, a deep blue state, a completely gone, destroyed state in Massachusetts, where, when there's a state job or a state contract that has to go out, Muslims, that's a religion, last I checked, one religion gets priority over all the others. How is that not a huge story? How is that not an outrage? I don't get it. What we found

Contradicts. Multiple sources on the same bill say S.2134 was still pending in the Senate Ways and Means Committee, which means no priority policy was in effect.[1][2][3]

Contradicts. The bill would create a commission that may identify and recommend Muslims for appointive positions; it does not give Muslims priority over others for state jobs, and it contains no provision on state contracts.[1][2][4][5][6]

Context. The ACLU of Massachusetts said the bills did not seem likely to move forward before the formal session ended, and the FFRF and Mass. Family Institute-style critics argue the bill is unconstitutional rather than describing an enacted policy.[4][5][6]

Context. The available sources are mostly advocacy or opinion outlets with credibility 0.40, and no tier1 source directly addresses a Massachusetts priority policy for jobs or contracts.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
