Multiple reliable sources show Republicans, as a majority, repeatedly voted against Iran war powers resolutions: the Senate has held 14 votes and passed only twice, mostly on party lines, and the House has held six.

What was said

… now that everybody has gone back home to their states and they're safely away from the White House, now all of a sudden, in their TV commercials, as they try to salvage what's left of their electoral fortunes, they say it's time to end the war in Iran. They didn't vote that way on the War Powers resolutions repeatedly. They've consistently stood by the president, but they understand how vastly unpopular that imperial enterprise is, and so they know they're going down with the ship if they're identified with Trump. But it's probably too late for any of them. …

What we found

Supports. Reuters and US News report the Senate rejected a September 24 war powers resolution 50-49, largely along party lines, with only four Republicans voting in favor.[1][5]

Supports. AP-cited reporting and PBS note the Senate has voted 14 times on Iran war powers resolutions and passed them only twice, so Republican opposition was the consistent outcome across repeated votes.[4][6]

Supports. PolitiFact reports that Republican Sen. Ashley Hinson voted against six resolutions calling for the war's end, a 'mostly accurate' rating of a Democrat's attack on her record.[2]

Contradicts. Some Republicans did vote for these resolutions: four GOP senators voted yes on several occasions, and in the House seven Republicans joined Democrats in one vote, which qualifies the claim that Republicans as a group voted against them.[4][7]

Context. The resolutions had little practical effect, and no war powers resolution has overcome a veto, so the repeated Republican opposition did not block a binding outcome.[2][3]
