On 2026-10-24, AAA's Kentucky diesel average was about $6.11 a gallon, not $6.50; the Kentucky figures in the sources run roughly $6.06 to $6.27 from late September through late October. The $6.50 to $6.53 figures in the sources are national averages (the national record was about $6.53 on Sept. 22), so the claim conflates the national price with Kentucky's.

What was said

… I've said that all along. Specifically on on the oil, though, I mean, that's, by the way, one of the most crazy things going on right now in California is, of course, the oil and diesel is much higher. As of the error, it's it's 656. What's it in Kentucky? It is about 450, but diesel is 650, the highest it's ever been in Kentucky. So I've got soybean farmers, 100% of them voted for Trump. They lost their first client in the USAID because if we feed starving countries, they like us better. It makes sense for soft power. Then Linda McMahon canceled the farm-to-cafeteria program. …

What we found

Contradicts. AAA's Kentucky average diesel price was $6.1062 a week before 10/30 and $6.1130 on 10/30, and an October 23 report put Kentucky diesel at $6.11, well below $6.50.[2][3]

Contradicts. A Kentucky-specific chamber snapshot put diesel at $6.120 as of 10/15/2026, and the Kentucky average a month earlier was $6.27, so no Kentucky reading in the sources approaches $6.50.[2][4]

Contradicts. Reuters and Kentucky.com report that the record diesel price of about $6.53 (Sept. 22) and the $6.35 average on Oct. 27–28 are national figures, not Kentucky figures.[1][5][6]

Context. Kentucky metro averages on 10/30 ranged from about $6.06 (Owensboro) to $6.15 (Lexington), all below $6.50.[2]
