What was said

… Most likely scenario that we are hearing right now, Steve, is that, uh, the President Herzog asked Bibi to form a government. He has six weeks to do it. What we found

Contradicts. CNN's 10-27 analysis says Herzog's first decision is whether to ask Netanyahu or Eisenkot to form a government, so no candidate had been tasked yet.[3]

Contradicts. AP reported on 10-30 that the president would assign someone to form a government the following week, which means the assignment had not happened on 10-28.[1]

Contradicts. Axios and CNN (both 10-28) describe the mandate as a 28-day period with a possible 14-day extension, not a flat six weeks, and say Herzog had yet to pick the candidate.[4][5]

Context. Reuters describes up to 42 days (six weeks) for the nominee, and NPR says the party will have six weeks, so six weeks is the maximum window rather than a period already running for Netanyahu.[2][6]

Context. ABC (10-28) says Netanyahu or Eisenkot will be given a period to try to form a government, and the 2009 CSMonitor piece about Netanyahu's six weeks concerns a different election and is not relevant to this claim.[7][8]
