The sources do not directly show how Henderson currently bills Lake Las Vegas. The only source on the current arrangement is an unrated, interested-party newsletter (SouthShore) saying a 1991 agreement still obligates raw-water rates and that the water now comes through Henderson's treated system, but it cites no billing records.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… The city's own spokesperson called it force majeure, an act of God. And it would be outrageous enough to know that we're taking a billion gallons of treated drinking water and putting it into a fake lake. But it gets worse. According to the records provided to me by the city of Henderson, they are still building Lake Las Vegas as though it is raw water. When they were getting water from Lake Mead in that original pipe, it was raw water. It came from the lake, and they got put back in Lake Las Vegas. It wasn't treated. …

What we found

Contradicts. The Nevada Independent reports that industrial customers of the Basic Water intake are paying Henderson potable rates four to five times the raw rate, but it does not say Lake Las Vegas is billed at potable rates, so this does not contradict the claim.[1]

Supports. SouthShore's February 2023 newsletter says the 1991 Agreement for Purchase of Raw Water remains in effect and obligates Henderson to supply Lake Las Vegas at raw water rates.[2]

Supports. The same newsletter says the water delivery was changed so that water now goes through Henderson's purification system to potable standards, which fits the 'treated water' part of the claim.[2]

Context. A 1998 Deseret News article reports that Henderson's city manager said Lake Las Vegas pays more for raw water than reuse customers but less than the treated-water rate, which describes the historical pricing structure but not current billing.[3]

Context. The city's public rate page describes general water rate structures but does not mention Lake Las Vegas or any raw-water rate for it.[4]
