Multiple tier1 outlets (AP, Reuters, BBC) reported on September 15, 2026 that Macklemore was dropped from Ed Sheeran's U.S. Loop Tour after pro-Palestinian remarks, and the promoter Messina Touring Group confirmed his departure, so the claim held as of 2026-09-16.
This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.
What we found
Supports. AP reports that Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran's North and South American tour for making pro-Palestinian comments onstage, and that four supporting acts quit in solidarity.[1]
Supports. Reuters reports that Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran's U.S. tour on Monday after pro-Palestinian remarks at a September 4 New Jersey concert, and that Sheeran attributed the decision to the promoters.[2]
Supports. BBC reports that Macklemore was dropped from the line-up for making pro-Palestinian remarks on stage, and that the remaining support acts quit in response.[3]
Supports. Promoter Messina Touring Group confirmed in a statement to Rolling Stone that Macklemore would not perform on the remaining supporting dates after venues objected to the lineup.[4][5]
Context. Sheeran said the removal was the promoter's decision and not his, and a later report says Macklemore's Gillette Stadium shows were cancelled over weather, which does not affect whether he was dropped.[2][6]
