Several sources report that more than 100 Minneapolis/Minnesota officers attended a 2012 Israeli consulate-hosted security training that included Israeli law enforcement and military officials, which supports the core claim. The sources are mostly advocacy or unrated outlets, the training was in 2012 rather than current, and only one source specifically names the IDF.

You know, we're talking about the deal with the fellows, like, why, why, why are IDF people training, you know, the Minneapolis Police Department? What we found

Supports. Mondoweiss (2020) reports that at least 100 Minnesota police officers attended a 2012 conference hosted by the Israeli consulate in Chicago, where they learned techniques from Israeli forces.[6]

Supports. Racism.org reports that in 2012 over 100 Minnesota police officers received counterterrorism training from Israeli law enforcement and military officials.[3]

Supports. Minnesota Reformer states that over 100 MPD officers had received training from the Israel Defense Forces at the time of George Floyd's killing in 2020.[4]

Supports. AMEU notes that in 2012 the Israeli consulate in Chicago held a training for 100 officers of the Minneapolis Police Department.[5]

Context. Mondoweiss also notes there is no evidence that the officers who killed Floyd received this training, and the training was eight years before 2020. The claim's 'has received' is a past event and is not contradicted by any source.[6]

Context. The AP consent decree and the MPD Academy page do not address outside training with Israeli personnel, so they neither support nor contradict the claim.[1][2]
