The claim that most of the injured and dead were non-Jewish is contradicted by the casualty figures in the sources: Odessa police records show 400 Jewish and 100 non-Jewish deaths, and the primary-source 1903-1904 pogrom figures show 95 Jewish and 13 non-Jewish killed. No source gives a split showing a non-Jewish majority, and the claimant's own passage cannot corroborate it.

What we found

Contradicts. Odessa police records, as reported in the Wikipedia pogrom article, show a minimum of 400 Jews and 100 non-Jews killed, with around 300 injured, predominantly Jewish.[2]

Contradicts. The primary-source summary of pogroms during 1903 and 1904 reports 95 Jews and 13 non-Jews killed, so Jewish victims were the majority of deaths.[1]

Contradicts. Britannica reports that in the Kishinev pogrom 45 Jews were killed and nearly 600 wounded, with no evidence of a non-Jewish majority among casualties.[3]

Context. The YIVO Encyclopedia says total pogrom fatalities are disputed and may have been as few as 50, about half of them pogromshchiki killed when troops fired on mobs, so the death toll is not uniformly Jewish-majority and the figures vary widely by event.[4]

Context. A quoted passage in an academic reprint of the Wikipedia article asserts that the number of people of other nationalities killed or wounded exceeds Jewish casualties, but it gives no supporting breakdown and is contradicted by the police and primary-source figures.[5]
