Russia's government did block Pornhub (2015 and 2016, via Roskomnadzor), so that part is supported, though the sources do not confirm the block's status as of 2026-10-01. … lackadaisical, to keep them addicted to anti-Islamic things that, of course, they have to pay for, in order to keep them from fighting, to keep them from building a separate identity. What we found

Contradicts. McDonald's exited the Russian market in 2022 through a voluntary corporate decision to sell its restaurants, not through a Russian government ban.[1][6][7]

Contradicts. Burger King did not get banned by Russia; its roughly 800 franchised Russian locations remained open, and the parent company said it could not close them because of its joint-venture partner and franchise structure.[2][8][9]

Supports. Russia's communications watchdog Roskomnadzor blocked Pornhub in 2015 after a Krasnodar court ruled it violated child-protection and pornography laws, and it was blacklisted again in 2016.[10][11]

Context. Snopes and Full Fact rated as false or untrue the 2022 rumor that Pornhub had blocked Russian users after the invasion of Ukraine, finding the site working normally.[3][4][5]
