The sources support that Kushner was hostile to Christie and that Christie attributes his ouster from the transition and his exclusion from top jobs to Kushner's revenge, but that causal account rests largely on Christie's own book and is disputed by Trump allies, and Vanity Fair reports Trump offered Christie several other posts that he turned down.

What was said

… I I think one of the the special dispensation for for the Jewish people is, you know I'm I'm no fan of Chris Christie, but I think he's like legitimately a funny guy. And no he is, and he's also a man so fat that his last name ate his first name. What we found

Contradicts. Vanity Fair reports Trump offered Christie several Cabinet and other posts, including Homeland Security and ambassador to Italy, which Christie declined, so he was not wholly kept out of the administration.[1]

Supports. Politico's 2016 reporting says Christie became convinced Kushner was retaliating over the prosecution of his father and that Kushner argued against Christie as running mate.[2]

Supports. Christie's 2019 book, as reported by NPR and Vox, says Jared Kushner engineered his removal as transition chief after Trump had named him to the role.[3][4]

Context. The Week reports that allies of both Christie and Trump insist Kushner was not behind Christie's fall, and that they disagree on the actual reason, leaving the causal story contested.[5]

Context. The claim's causal attribution comes primarily from Christie's own memoir, and a 2025 Jewish-community guide repeats that the feud played a decisive role without independent documentation.[6][7]
