The claim that the U.S. has not enhanced Venezuelan oil production is contradicted by sources showing U.S.-linked deals expanding output: Chevron's expansion, the NABEP agreement, and rising production in the fields involved. The extraction is faithful to the post, and the picture held as of 2026-09-15, when Chevron's expansion had been announced and the U.S.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

… Let me be clear, because we need facts. Are important, right? Last year, this year, same amount of oil. The U.S. Has only, has not enhanced the oil production in Venezuela, okay? And you know, because I've done multiple fact checks, the Venezuelan oil, sour, viscous, dense, sticky, doesn't go into our salt caverns. The barrels that exist in the future are hard to refine, decades away, billions of dollars of investment. …

What we found

Contradicts. Chevron, the only major U.S. oil company operating in Venezuela, confirmed on September 2, 2026 that it will expand operations, targeting roughly double its current output to about 600,000 barrels a day with a $7 billion investment.[1]

Contradicts. The U.S. Embassy in Caracas stated that the September 2, 2026 agreements with Chevron, Eni and GE Vernova 'will expand oil production,' and described a 'new era of energy investment and production' in Venezuela.[2]

Contradicts. A State Department visit reported that NABEP, under its August 2026 agreement with the U.S. government, grew production from about 18,000 to more than 100,000 barrels per day in the Petrozamora fields, reaching a record 115,000 bpd in October.[4][5]

Contradicts. Chevron's three Venezuelan joint ventures are on track for about 300,000 barrels a day of gross output by end-2026, an increase of about 20% over the prior year, and PDVSA reported national output at its highest operational level since 2019.[6]

Context. Sources also note that much of the expansion is early-stage, that national output stayed roughly flat at about 1.2 million bpd in recent months, and that analysts doubt how fast production can rise. Attribution of the national rise to U.S. action is therefore partial, but the claim of no enhancement is not supported.[3][5][7]
