As of the August 4, 2026 post date, four Muslims serving in Congress is supported: Pew Research (published Sept 3, 2026) says there are now four Muslim members of Congress, and a CAIR directory (published Aug 19-20, 2026) lists four members of Congress.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What we found

Supports. Pew Research's September 2026 report states there are now four Muslim members of Congress, with a fifth about to join.[1]

Supports. The CAIR and CAIR Action 2026 Directory of Elected Muslim Officials, released August 19-20, 2026, identifies four Muslim Americans serving in the U.S. House.[2][3][4]

Context. Later sources report five Muslim members of Congress (Newarab, Oct 13, 2026; Wikipedia's 119th Congress list), reflecting a subsequent change after the claim date, not a contradiction of the August count.[5][6]

Context. The claimant's own post and an X post asserting a count are not evidence; the Wikipedia list's 2020 publication date and the X post's reliability are weak, so they carry little weight.[6][7]
