What we found

Supports. AP reports the report 'did not conclude that Rice or any other government official acted in bad faith or intentionally misled the American people.'[1][2]

Supports. VOA reports the report says Rice 'did not deliberately mislead the American people,' attributing her faulty statements to numerous faulty preliminary intelligence reports.[3]

Supports. CNN's report coverage states the talking points were inaccurate 'but not deliberately misleading' and found no political cover-up by Rice or anyone else.[4][5]

Context. The report found Rice inaccurately asserted the attack evolved from a protest, which was wrong, but attributed this to contradictory intelligence and flawed analysts rather than deception.[1][6][7]

Context. Senator Graham, quoted in CNN coverage, called the report 'full of crap' and disputed its conclusions, but this is opinion and not a contradiction of the report's finding.[5]
