The only source that breaks out under-40 Trump voters on socialism, a Rasmussen/Heartland poll reported in September 2025, found 35% of those who voted for Trump in 2024 wanted a democratic socialist president in 2028, not over 50%.
What was said
… is that most under 40 voters, including Trump voters, people that voted for Trump, overwhelmingly support things that sound really socialist, like nationalizing industries or confiscating excess wealth. These are people who call themselves conservatives. I think it was over 50% of under 40 Trump voters in one of our polls said that they would actually vote for a socialist candidate. So the problem is an optics and messaging problem for the right. Okay, and things, in my opinion, that aren't going to work are putting Israel first or accusing other people of being a socialist. …

Contradicts. The Rasmussen/Heartland poll of 18-39 year olds found 35% of respondents who voted for Trump in 2024 wanted a democratic socialist president elected in 2028, below the claimed 'over 50%' threshold.[1]
Supports. Rasmussen's partner survey page reports that a majority of under-40 voters favor socialist policies and candidates, but it gives no breakdown for Trump voters.[2]
Context. The same 2025 poll found 53% of all 18-39 respondents wanted a democratic socialist president, so the 50%+ figure in the claim appears to conflate the overall young-voter number with the Trump-voter subgroup.[1]
Context. A Mark Mitchell interview says Trump 'got socialist votes' and that many under-40 voters who call themselves conservatives support socialist policies, but gives no percentage for Trump voters.[3]
