Sam Liccardo@sliccardoOct 28, 2026I'm demanding answers from the White House about who throttled the Starshield service critical to Ukraine’s interceptors that protect its civilians from Russian attacks. Keep in mind: this is the same Russian military that provided Iran with satellite and geospatial intelligence to target and attack American soldiers in March. The same Russia that provides Iran with missiles and anti-jamming electronics for Iranian drones, all used to kill Americans. This Starshield restriction imperiled–and likely killed–Ukrainian allies. It aided the enemy. We need far more than investigations. …
Multiple independent outlets (Reuters, NBC News, CNN, Washington Post, and CNAS citing U.S. officials) report that Russia, largely via satellite imagery, gave Iran intelligence on U.S. forces' locations to help target them in March 2026, including before the March 26-27 Prince Sultan Air Base attack that wounded 12 U.S. personnel.
What we found
Supports. Reuters reports, citing two Western security sources and a regional official, that Moscow has been providing satellite imagery to Tehran, and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said Russia was helping Iran with intelligence to target Americans.[1]
Supports. NBC News, citing four sources, reports Russia is providing Iran intelligence on the location of U.S. forces, which could help Iran locate American warships, radar and communications systems.[2]
Supports. CNN and the Washington Post report Russia shared satellite imagery and locations of U.S. troops, ships and aircraft with Iran, and CNN ties Russian satellites to the Prince Sultan Air Base strike, which wounded 12 U.S. personnel.[3][4][5]
Supports. A CNAS commentary states that U.S. officials later concluded Moscow had fed Iran satellite intelligence that aided Iranian precision strikes, with 14 Russian spy satellites passing overhead two days before the March 27 attack.[6]
Contradicts. Russia denies providing intelligence to Iran, and Kremlin and Lavrov statements decline or deny involvement; these are party denials rather than an authoritative finding disproving the reporting.[1][7][8]
Context. NBC could not independently verify a Ukrainian intelligence briefing alleging Russian satellite imagery of the base, and the sourcing for the U.S. intelligence reports is anonymous, which limits confidence in the precise operational details.[2][8]
