The claim is about the act of posting, and multiple sources confirm Trump posted on June 29, 2026 that the Reflecting Pool suffered great damage due to vandals and radical left scum, matching the extraction.

What we found

Supports. Trump's Truth Social post dated June 29, 2026 reads that the Reflecting Pool 'suffered great damage due to the Vandals and Radical Left SCUM that hate our Country,' matching the claim's wording.[2]

Supports. The Freep timeline lists the June 29, 2026 Truth Social post in which Trump said the pool 'suffered great damage due to the Vandals and Radical Left SCUM,' and quotes the follow-up about releasing the water after July 4.[3]

Supports. The Daily Beast reported on June 29, 2026 that Trump blasted 'Radical Left SCUM' in a social media post about the Reflecting Pool and blamed them for its state.[4]

Context. FactCheck.org reports that a July 31 DOJ motion attributed the damage to a contractor's flawed installation 'and not vandalism,' so the content Trump posted is disputed by the government's own filing.[1]

Context. The claim is graded on the act of posting, which sources confirm; the vandalism assertion itself is contradicted by later DOJ and fact-check reporting, which the summary notes but does not change the verdict.[1][5]
