CBS News reported, and other outlets confirmed, that Homeland Security Investigations agents (an arm of ICE) were knocking on doors in several states asking residents about immigration status and voter registration or past voting, and a federal judge's order names all six claimed states (California, Georgia, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Washington, Wisconsin) among nine investigated states.

What we found

Supports. CBS News investigation reports armed, uniformed Department of Homeland Security agents knocking on doors in several states to ask about immigration status and whether residents registered or voted in past elections.[1]

Supports. The Independent identifies the agents as Homeland Security Investigations, an arm of ICE, and reports the visits to residents' homes in multiple states.[2]

Supports. Missouri is named among nine states targeted by the Homeland Security Investigations voter-fraud investigation, with St. Louis specifically cited by the Kansas City HSI office.[3]

Supports. A federal judge's order covers investigations in nine states including California, Georgia, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wisconsin, and was reported as halting them ahead of the midterms.[4]

Context. A later report says the judge ruled the operation illegal and ordered it halted; this later development does not make the Oct 27 claim false, but it may mean visits had stopped by that date.[5]
