The claim that current approval of the war is below 20% is contradicted by every poll in the sources, which put approval of Trump's handling of the Iran war at roughly 26-35% in the months around 2026-09-07. The claimant's passage hedges with 'I think', and the sources give no figure near 20%.

What we found
Contradicts. The Institute for Global Affairs survey, fielded August 11-14, 2026 (before the claim date), found 34% approval of Trump's handling of the war with Iran.[2]
Contradicts. A CNN survey reported around September 22, 2026 found 26% approval of Trump's handling of the war, down from 33% in March. This is the lowest figure in the sources, and it is still well above 20%.[3]
Contradicts. The Council on Foreign Relations average of national polls in June 2026 showed 35.7% support for the war, and the Marquette Law School poll in April showed 32% approval of Trump's war handling. Both fall well above 20%.[4][5]
Context. The Reuters/Ipsos poll of September 14 reports 35% overall approval of Trump, not approval of the war, so it does not directly address the claim's figure.[1]
