The sources strongly support that roughly 70,000 people crossed from Morocco into Ceuta, but they place the mass crossing on July 30-31, 2026, not in September. The claim's date is therefore contradicted, and the post's 'a month ago' phrasing is what appears to have led the extraction to September.

A detail. The sources confirm the gist; the verdict faults a detail such as a date, number or wording.

What we found

Contradicts. Reuters and the Spanish government both describe the mass crossing as occurring in July, and the Malay Mail report says more than 70,000 entered on July 30 and 31, which conflicts with the claim's 'September 2026' timing.[1][3][4]

Contradicts. AP says the crossing happened in late July and describes the crisis as ongoing into September and October, so September was a period of aftermath rather than the crossing itself.[2]

Supports. Multiple outlets and officials put the number of people who entered Ceuta at about 70,000 to 72,000, with some reports saying around 80,000.[1][2][3][4]

Context. Spain's interior ministry and Ceuta sources say most of the crossers were returned to Morocco, with a few thousand remaining in the enclave by September and October.[5][6][7]

Context. The extraction converted the post's 'a month ago' (posted 2026-10-03) into 'September 2026'; the sources do not support that timing for the crossing itself.
