On August 24, 2026, the Supreme Court lifted a lower-court injunction, letting the Trump administration proceed with its executive order on mail-in voting, as reported by Reuters, Politico, NPR, NYT, CNN, CNBC and UPI.

What we found

Supports. Reuters reports the Supreme Court on August 24, 2026 lifted one court order blocking the administration from implementing Trump's executive order restricting mail-in ballots, with the 6-3 majority saying the states' challenge was premature.[1]

Supports. Politico and NYT report the justices voted 6-3 to overturn the injunction, and NYT says the decision let the administration move ahead with planning to restrict mail-in voting before the midterms.[3][4]

Supports. NPR and CNN report the Court paused the lower-court ruling blocking key parts of the order, allowing Trump to begin carrying out parts of it, while noting further legal challenges could hinder implementation.[5][6]

Supports. CNBC and UPI report the Court allowed the administration to move forward for now with key parts of the executive order, though a separate nationwide injunction still blocks the Postal Service piece.[7][8]

Context. An AP report dated September 14, 2026 says the Supreme Court later rejected Trump's bid to restrict mail ballots, and a November 2 Daily Star piece says the Court blocked the restrictions. These describe later developments and conflict with the August ruling reporting, so they go to context rather than contradicting the claim as of August 24.[2][9]
