Flock itself says it operates more than 120,000 cameras, and Reuters, CNN, and The Intercept repeat that figure. Independent counts disagree: DeFlock and OpenStreetMap-based tallies put Flock-tagged cameras near 105,000–108,000, while Joshua Michael's map reports about 170,000 cameras (about 300,000 devices including non-camera gear).

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… I'm going to see what we can chat about. Let's talk about Flock cameras, shall we? You want to talk about Flock cameras? Let's do that. Flock cameras are everywhere. Flock cameras, perhaps you've seen them in your community. There's over 120,000 cameras all across the country right now, and they're used to reflexively, automatically capture everyone's vehicle and license plate as you drive by them. In other words, the blanket security state is growing to brand new levels right here in the United States of America. …

What we found

Contradicts. Crowdsourced and dataset counts put Flock-tagged cameras below 120,000: DeFlock-based estimates are about 108,000, and the OpenStreetMap ALPR dataset counts about 104,883 Flock-tagged devices.[1][3]

Supports. Flock Safety says it operates more than 120,000 cameras across 49 states, and Reuters and CNN report that figure as the company's own count.[2][4][6]

Supports. A cybersecurity researcher's map shows more than 170,000 cameras attributed to Flock, which would exceed the 120,000 figure, though that map counts cameras and other devices differently from Flock.[5][7]

Context. The sources use different measures: Flock's own camera count, crowdsourced Flock-only counts, and total automated license plate reader counts across all vendors (about 127,000 to 135,000), so the figure depends on which measure is used.[1][8][9]
