Sources support that a fire was set in the basement nursery of St.

We could not find who says this in the episode. Shown here; not scored.

What we found

Contradicts. The only source using the 'tried to burn it down' framing and attributing it to leftist rioters is a JNS opinion column, which is not an authoritative record and does not establish who set the fire.[1]

Supports. The Washington Post reports a fire was set in the basement nursery of St. John's Episcopal Church during protests on Sunday night, May 31, 2020.[2][3][4]

Supports. Episcopal News Service and Patch report the fire was quickly extinguished and contained to a nursery room, with minor damage, which is consistent with an attempted arson.[3][4]

Context. Mainstream sources describe the perpetrators only as protesters or 'someone' setting the fire; none names a political affiliation for the person who set it.[2][3][5]
