The sources consistently date Hamas's election victory that gave it power in Gaza to January 2006, not 2005, so the claim's year is wrong. The passage did not give a year, so the 2005 date was added during extraction; Hamas did win 2005 Gaza municipal elections, but those were local, not elections to rule Gaza.

A detail. The sources confirm the gist; the verdict faults a detail such as a date, number or wording.

What was said

… So for the last, I think, 20 years, we have seen a systematic, especially since Hamas took over Gaza in 2005, because remember, Israel withdrew out of Gaza in 2005 and gave Gaza to the Palestinians who, in return, had an election, elected Hamas to rule them. And so since 2005 until now, so you have 20 years of this steady diet of feeding their population, That the Jews are inhumane, that killing them is a good thing, because you are ridin' the world of something so evil that it is you're doing something good for …

What we found

Contradicts. Reuters' chronology dates Hamas's election victory to January 25, 2006, when it defeated Fatah in the Palestinian parliamentary election, and the Hamas government was sworn in on March 29, 2006.[1]

Contradicts. The BBC says Hamas won the legislative elections in 2006 and then reinforced its power in Gaza the following year by ousting Fatah, placing the rule-granting election in 2006.[3]

Contradicts. Freedom House states Hamas won the 2006 Legislative Council elections with 74 of 132 seats, and the IDF notes Hamas won the January 2006 parliamentary election but did not win the 2005 presidential election.[4][5]

Context. Hamas did win 2005 municipal elections in Gaza (77 of 118 seats per Freedom House, 75 per CMI), which is the only 2005 electoral win in the sources. These were local council elections, not an election to rule Gaza.[4][6][7]

Context. Snopes notes that Hamas's latest election among Gaza Palestinians was in 2006 and that the victory was not by a majority of votes, though it won a majority of legislative seats.[2]
