The claim that the DSA as a group does not believe in God is contradicted by sources showing DSA members and leaders who are people of faith, including a national co-chair who is an ordained Presbyterian elder (AP, July 31, 2026).

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… We are the reaction to the action of evil that had taken over the world, and we are cleaning up Washington, DC. The devil is in for the fight of his life, and he's pushing back, and he's got his minions in the Democrat Socialists of America, who don't believe in God, and we're going to drive them into the pits of Hell, and we're going to take back our country for the next 250 years. One hour of The Rob Carson Show remaining for today, and we'll do that after this. Don't go anywhere.

What we found

Contradicts. AP reports that DSA national co-chair Megan Romer is an ordained ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and that many people of faith do not see socialism as contradictory to their beliefs.[1][3]

Contradicts. NPR's profile of the DSA describes a Christian chapter co-founder for whom religion played a large part in joining, showing the group includes believers.[2]

Context. The 'godless' characterization comes from Trump's June 2026 remarks about 'communists' in New York primaries, which Mediaite and the Semissourian column present as political rhetoric rather than a finding about DSA beliefs.[4][5]

Context. Opinion pieces such as Ayn Rand Institute and WNG argue the DSA's ideology functions as a faith or is hostile to religion, but these are commentary, not authoritative determinations of what members believe.[6][7]

Context. The claim departs slightly from the post, which says DSA members 'don't believe in God' as a faction of the group; the post's own wording is the basis graded here.
