Context. The August Emerson/Nexstar poll had Paxton at 47% and Talarico at 46%, a one-point gap well within the margin of error, so the race was close to a tie in the weeks before the post.[2][3]
Context. October polls from Emerson, Texas Southern, Texas Public Opinion Research and others show Talarico narrowly ahead, which is after the claim date and does not directly bear on the state of polling on 2026-09-07.[4][5][6][7][8]
