The sources report that asbestos was not detected in the tested East Wing debris samples at the East Potomac Golf Links, though some samples were never tested for asbestos and critics question the reliability of the asbestos testing.

Our two reads of who says this, and how, disagree, so it counts as the post's own claim.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What we found

Supports. The Daily Beast reports that asbestos was not detected in the soil testing released by the National Park Service.[4]

Context. Asbestos testing was incomplete: an asbestos.com article quotes an advocate saying three debris samples were never tested for asbestos, and the Daily Beast says two samples were never tested and a third container broke.[4][5]

Context. Critics, including House Democrats, argue that the National Park Service never released reliable test results on potential asbestos content, which disputes the reliability of the testing rather than reporting asbestos found.[2]

Context. The AP report on the Jacobs Engineering interim report describes detected toxic metals and other chemicals but does not report asbestos findings, so it neither confirms nor contradicts the asbestos result.[1]

Context. The Interior Department says the soil was tested multiple times and passed all legal standards, which is consistent with the reported lack of asbestos detection.[3]
