The claim names Garland Nixon, but the passage never names its speaker, and the rest of the post names only the guest-host context (Stu Peters), so the claim departs from the passage.
What was said
… Yeah, I think we're getting a lot of company. You know, the funny thing was, I, ah, you know, there were so many people who, particularly, you know, I kind of was, I hate to admit this, you know, I kind of ran amongst the liberal class, right, and I was on the With the a c l u, work for the A c l u, on the board of the A c l u, back when they, like, pissed everybody off, you know, when they just, like, we represented people that everybody hated, and it was great, you know, we were the outsiders. …

Contradicts. The post's speaker ('I was on the... board of the A c l u') is never identified by name in the passage or the rest of the post, so attaching the name Garland Nixon is an extraction addition rather than the poster's claim.
Supports. Multiple sources report that Garland Nixon served on the ACLU's board: a 2014 article calls him 'an ACLU board member,' a 2021 Maryland ACLU board listing includes him, and a 2026 interview says he sat on the Maryland and national boards in the 1990s and again until about 2013 or COVID.[1][2][3]
Context. Several 2026 bios state he 'currently serves' on the ACLU National Board, while his own 2026 interview says he resigned during COVID, so the sources conflict on present status but agree he was once on the board.[3][4][5][6][7]
