The Briefing with Jen PsakiOct 23, 2026

Multiple independent sources, including a candidate's own campaign page, Sun Herald and WAPT/Enterprise-Journal reporting, and a 2026 voters guide, show Scott Colom advocates raising the federal minimum wage (from $7.25).

A guest makes this claim. Listeners heard it, so it counts against the post, and on the guest's own record.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What we found

Supports. Colom's campaign site says he will 'fight to raise the minimum wage and tie it to the cost of living' if elected to the Senate.[1]

Supports. The Sun Herald reports Colom 'supports raising the federal minimum wage,' and quotes him saying 'We got to raise the minimum wage.'[2][3][4]

Supports. WAPT reported in February 2026 that Colom wants to increase the minimum wage and called the current $7.25 'not enough money.'[5]

Supports. A voters guide records Colom answering 'Yes' to raising the federal minimum from $7.25 per hour.[6]

Context. The post's speaker is a Colom ally, and the passage itself is not evidence; the verdict rests on the candidate's own statements and independent reporting.[7]
