The claim that Iran's crude exports returned to pre-war levels is contradicted by multiple sources: Iranian exports were at or near zero in September 2026 under a US naval blockade, while the recovery to pre-war levels reported by Kpler, Vortexa and others applied to Gulf or Middle East exports excluding Iran.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… I mean, that's that's all it is. Okay, um, do you want to, before we go to questions, um, I would like your opinion oh because Scott and I went back and forth on this a lot yesterday about what's going on with Iran and the fact that now we're almost back to pre-war levels of oil, of crude oil getting out. Do you think that now Iran is on the back foot? Because Scott did not think so. He still thought that Iran was in a much better position, and I feel like this is a big deal, um, for the U.S. Side. …

What we found

Contradicts. Reuters (Oct 6, 2026) reports Iranian exports fell to zero due to a US blockade, while Gulf oil flows excluding Iran rose to over 81% of pre-war levels.[1]

Contradicts. Iran International (Oct 6, 2026), citing Kpler, says Iran has not loaded any new oil since mid-August and no Iranian cargo has crossed the US blockade line since mid-July.[3]

Contradicts. Vortexa data reported by IranWire (Oct 14, 2026) says Iran's seaborne crude exports dropped to zero in the second week of September and stayed there through October 5.[4]

Contradicts. Chosun (Oct 5, 2026) reports Iranian crude exports are effectively zero due to US naval blockades, even as Middle East exports excluding Iran recovered to pre-war levels.[5]

Contradicts. AP (Sept 11, 2026) reports that a US blockade had virtually halted Iran's oil exports, which had fallen from about 1.85 million barrels a day last spring to around 255,000 in August.[2]

Context. The pre-war recovery figures (for example, Kpler's 16.5 million bpd in September and DW's report of the Middle East excluding Iran exceeding the pre-war average) refer to regional exports excluding Iran, which is the distinction the claim blurs.[6][7][8]
