The San Francisco Chronicle (published Aug. 18, 2026) reports that a PPIC poll from the prior month, i.e. July relative to the Aug. 10 post, found the Democrat leading Hilton by 25 points, which matches the claim.
The guest relays this claim without endorsing it. It counts as passed on, not against the post.

… But let's talk first about President Trump. Has endorsed you in the race, um, but in California, Democrats have been nearly two to one voter registration advantage, as you know, over Republicans, and a poll came out last month, pretty closely mapped that, had you trailing the Democratic candidate Pescara by 25 points. Supports. The SF Chronicle article, published Aug. 18, 2026, says 'the PPIC poll from last month found the Democrat leading by 25 points' over Hilton, matching the claim's figure and timing.[1]
Context. A September UC Berkeley IGS poll also showed Becerra leading by 25 percentage points, a different poll from a different month, so it neither confirms nor refutes the July PPIC figure.[2]
Context. Later polls in October (Activote, Emerson, SurveyUSA, IGS) show Becerra leading Hilton by 22 to 27 points, consistent with a sustained double-digit lead, though none of them is the July poll the claim describes.[3][4][5]
