The sources do not give a clean count of midterms in which a sitting president's party gained seats over the last 90 years, so the claim's specific figure of two cannot be graded. Source 4 is the claimant's own repetition of the passage and cannot corroborate it; the extracted claim matches the passage's wording.

Our candidates are out telling the truth, and that's why they're doing well and that's why they're going to win. This will be a tight election. Midterms are every single time. And it's true that we have to defy history. It's only happened twice in 90 years that a sitting president has picked up seats for his party. But I genuinely believe that this midterm is unlike any other. We have a broadening chasm between the two parties. You're right. Under Biden and Harris, gas prices went to $5 a gallon. Now gas prices are too high. Right now, inflation is too high. …

What we found

Context. PolitiFact (source 0) addresses only whether Obama lost more seats than other modern presidents, not how often a president's party has gained seats in midterms.[1]

Context. The UCSB presidency data (source 3) tabulates seat gains and losses by the president's party in midterms, but the excerpt is truncated and does not show the full gain record needed to count cases.[2]

Context. CFR says the president's party has lost House seats in 37 of the past 41 midterms, which implies about four midterms without a loss, but the window and the gain-versus-no-change distinction are not specified, so this cannot be reconciled with a count of two.[4]

Context. Davemanuel's summary that the president's party loses about 90% of the time is an unrated aggregator that gives no gain counts and does not settle the figure.[5]

Context. The claimant's own statement appears in source 4 (a House press release quoting the same line); it is not independent evidence for the claim.[3]
