The report exists and clears former Fed Chair Powell of criminal wrongdoing, as several outlets confirm, but sources put the report at 120 or 121 pages, not 126. The central claim holds while the page count is wrong.

What we found

Contradicts. The page count is contradicted: AP and PBS describe a 120-page report, The Hill and the Washington Examiner describe a 121-page report, and CNN also reports 120 pages. None describes a 126-page report.[1][3][4][5][6]

Supports. The Fed's inspector general released a report on September 30, 2026 finding no reasonable grounds to believe a federal crime occurred in the renovation, which effectively clears Powell of criminal wrongdoing.[2][3][7][8]

Context. The same report found management and oversight failures that contributed to cost overruns, so it does not clear the Fed's project management, only the criminal question.[1][2][9]
