The sources indirectly support the claim: multiple reports say the Senate has used pro forma sessions to block recess appointments for Trump and others, and the last 10-day recess was in 2016. No source directly counts Trump's 2025-2026 recess appointments, and the only explicit zero figure comes from Trump's own July 2026 image post, which is not independent evidence.

The host relays this claim without endorsing it. It counts as passed on, not against the post.

What was said

… the President, for the first time and I don't know who briefed him on this but the President, for the first time, put a meme on True Social this weekend about exactly that topic, about how many recess appointments Reagan had, the first Bush, the second Bush. President Trump: in five and a half years, zero. What are you recommending? What is Voter GA recommending about, after you guys have read it and curated it and thought about it, what are you recommending the President do, sir? Well, we, we obviously, Steve, have a national security crisis. …

What we found

Supports. Arnold & Porter says the Senate's strategic use of pro forma sessions blocked Presidents Obama, Trump, and Biden from the conditions needed to make recess appointments.[3]

Supports. Cato's Thomas Berry states the Senate has not allowed any recess appointments in the decade since Noel Canning, and ABC reports the last 10-day Senate recess was in 2016.[2][4]

Context. The only explicit tally showing Trump at zero is a Trump Truth Social image post from July 26, 2026. Because it is the claimant's own material, it cannot corroborate the claim.[5]

Context. The sources that discuss the Senate blockade were published in 2024, and the CRS FAQ from 2026 does not give a Trump count in the shown text. Coverage of the full five-and-a-half-year period is therefore indirect, and the claim's exact figure is not independently verified.[1][2]
